Teen Patti hands are ranked like three-card poker. Below are all six hands from best to worst, an example of each, and how often each one is dealt. New to the game? Start with the Teen Patti rules.

Hand rankings, highest to lowest

Rank Hand Example Combinations Chance
1 Trail / Set K♠ K♥ K♦ 52 0.24%
2 Pure Sequence 9♥ 10♥ J♥ 48 0.22%
3 Sequence 5♣ 6♦ 7♠ 720 3.26%
4 Color Aâ™  8â™  3â™  1,096 4.96%
5 Pair Q♣ Q♦ 4♥ 3,744 16.94%
6 High Card A♦ 9♣ 4♠ 16,440 74.39%

There are 22,100 possible three-card hands in a 52-card deck, which is where the percentages come from.

Which hand wins when two players have the same type?

  • Trail: the higher rank wins; three aces beat three kings, and so on down to three twos.
  • Sequences and pure sequences: A-K-Q is the highest and A-2-3 is usually second highest; the rest rank by their top card. A few apps use a different order, so check the in-app rules.
  • Color: compare the highest card, then the next, then the last.
  • Pair: the higher pair wins; if the pairs match, the third card decides.
  • High card: compare cards from the highest down.

Why a Pure Sequence is rarer than a Sequence

A Pure Sequence needs all three cards in the same suit, so there are only 48 of them against 720 plain Sequences. A Trail is slightly more common than a Pure Sequence, which is why it ranks higher in Teen Patti (unlike some poker hand orders).
