A side show is a private comparison of cards between two players in the middle of a round. It is one of the most confusing parts of Teen Patti for new players. Rules differ slightly between apps, so check the table rules too.
How a side show works
- Only a seen player (who has looked at their cards) can ask for a side show.
- They ask the player sitting immediately before them, who must also be seen.
- The other player can accept or refuse.
- If accepted, the two hands are compared privately. The player with the lower hand must pack (fold).
- If refused, play simply continues.
What happens on a tie?
In many rule sets the player who asked for the side show loses a tie, but this varies. Read the in-app rules before relying on it.
Side show vs show
A side show can happen with several players still in. A show only happens when two players are left and decides the pot. See the glossary.
When does a side show make sense?
- Asking is useful if you hold a strong hand and want to remove a rival cheaply.
- Refusing is common when you hold a strong hand and want the other player to keep betting.
- Accepting with a weak hand just costs you the round, so refuse unless you are confident.
